Halle Berry’s ‘John Wick’ Training Regime Was So Intense She Broke Three Ribs
As if you needed any more proof that Halle Berry was superhuman, this is officially it. In a recent interview with Extra, the 52-year-old revealed she went so darn hard while training for her role as an assassin in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parrabellum, she actually broke three ribs. But instead of letting it keep her from getting in on the action she treated it “like a badge of honour.”
“I thought, ‘OK, I’m out of the movie, they are going to replace me because you know the show has to go on,’” she explained. “We don’t know how it happened. I worked for a little while with broken ribs until I could no longer do it.”
Thankfully, her director Chad Stahelski waited for her to heal. “He pushed the production a little bit,” she said. And when I came back I actually felt better.” In fact, it wasn’t long before she was back in the “best shape” of her life.

This #FitnessFriday, we’re taking it to the block. The way we see it, a true warrior can look at ANY environment and find new and exciting ways to challenge their routine (fancy gym membership NOT necessary!) – As soon as @peterleethomas and I spotted these cinder blocks, we knew just what time it was! The variable sizes of nontraditional weights can help build more uncommonly used muscles, leaving you challenged, motivated and sore af. ?? Check out today’s stories for 3 exercises and let’s hit the bricks!!
“It’s hours and hours of stunt training, it’s gun training, it’s dog training, and then it’s just strength training on top of that. I would do my strength training with my trainer. It’s watching my diet,” she said.
Via Instagram, Halle shared a snippet of the gruelling regime:
“Working with @chadstahelski, @heidimoneymakerand the entire @87elevenaction stunt team was one of the best experiences of my career,” she captioned the video. “While I was extremely loved and cared for, I was also challenged to dig deeper day after day to realise my true warrior within. Today I share one of my training videos. I hope it will motivate you to dig deeper than you ever thought you could and find your warrior!”
Mad props to you, Halle.
