3. Beer could help fight cancer
Having a pint down the pub might save your life because ingredients found in beer could help fight cancer.
Specifically the beer hops – the flowers of hops plants which are used to give the booze its bitter flavour – are packed with anti-cancer properties.
They contain acids called humulones and lupulones which could be turned into new medicines which could fight cancers and inflammatory diseases.
Hops contain antibacterial and anti-fungal properties which could stop the growth of diseases.
Scientists at the University of Idaho are currently working on extracting the compounds and finding a way of creating them synthetically in the lab.
4. Beer makes you last longer in bed
Alcohol doesn’t always have to ruin your fun in the bedroom.
Drinking beer can boost men’s stamina and performance between the sheets.
Dr. Kat Van Kirk claims sinking a few jars can also give them longer and more intense erections.

Chemicals in alcohol called phytoestrogens are scientifically proven to delay orgasm and keep blokes going all night long.
Drinking a dark brew such as Guinness boosts circulation and gets a man in the mood due to its high iron content.
The Los Angeles-based expert said: “Brews are rich in vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin B and others that have probiotic qualities.
“This means it can help fortify your overall health and be better on your stomach so you won’t feel sluggish during sex.”
But lads shouldn’t prop the bar up all night as too much beer may result in them not being able to perform at all.
5. Beer doesn’t always make you gain weight – it’s surprisingly low in calories
A UCL study debunked the myth that brews give you a beer belly.
They said: “There is a common notion that beer drinkers are, on average, more ‘obese’ than either non-drinkers or drinkers of wine or spirits.
“The association between beer and obesity, if it exists, is probably weak.”
Plus if you’re a fan of Irish nectar, Guinness has less calories than some “healthy” drinks.
Although it gets has a bad reputation for being heavy, 12oz of the draft has just 125 calories versus the same serving of skimmed milk (135 calories) or orange juice (183 calories).
